The Part World Felt Lap Vent is a refurbishment solution designed to enhance ventilation in existing roof spaces, particularly in properties where additional loft insulation has been installed. This product is effective in addressing condensation issues in roof spaces with lapped felt or membrane construction. By creating an air gap that delivers up to 3000mm²/m of ventilating airflow, the vents help to prevent moisture buildup, which can lead to costly problems like rotten roof timber. The vents are easy to install, clipping onto the edges of the felt or membrane near the eaves, and when evenly spaced on both sides of the loft, they work in conjunction with existing roof ventilation to resolve most loft condensation issues. However, it’s important to note that while these vents provide increased ventilation, they do not meet the BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 code of practice, and opening felt laps may impact the roof’s resistance to driving rain and increase wind uplift forces on slates, tiles, or shingles.
