Drilling screws according to DIN 7504 have special tips that allow them to drill themselves into metal without the need for pre-drilling. Note:
With very hard metals, the penetration of stainless steel screws can be more difficult, so in such cases pre-drilling may be required to prepare the material and facilitate penetration.
