Description

Nicole and Natalie Appleton and Melanie Blatt of pop group All Saints make their acting debut in David Stewart’s swinging Sixties crime caper. Sisters Gerry (Nicole), Mandy (Natalie) and Jo Chase (Melanie) hold up a Carnaby Street jewellers disguised as men. Gerry is the last to get away, and is caught and unmasked next door in the offices of ‘Zero’ magazine by aspiring journalist Daniel Wheaton (Peter Facinelli). Rather than turn Gerry in, Daniel puts her up for the night. Meanwhile, mob boss Duggie (Corin Redgrave) has worked out who was responsible for the hold-up, and is hot on Gerry’s trail. Matters become more complicated still when Daniel’s boss, Andrew Pryce-Stevens, arrives at his flat, feeds Gerry a cake filled with hallucinogenic drugs and helps himself to the stolen gems!
Written and directed by established musician David A. Stewart, Honest marks the film debut of Nicole Appleton, Natalie Appleton and Melanie Blatt. Set against the psychedelic backdrop of London at the height of the swinging ’60s, the sisters turn outlaws in a bid to escape their impoverished East End lives. Masquerading as men, they rob from the rich and give to themselves, whilst challenging both the law and the local gangsters. Howver, things begin to go badly wrong, and they are sent into a dangerous adventure towards freedom, picking up a gorgeous American writer along the way.
This hilarious, hugely entertaining romp of a film, with a classic ’60s soundtrack, portrays a kind of decadence that has never been seen in a post-war Britain.
