The internal adhesive is heat activated by the splice machine heater and will bond with both fibre coating and pigtail buffer. The diameter of the protective sleeve is 2.6mm and shrinks down to 2.2mm after applying heat. Each splice protector includes a built in stainless steel reinforcing needle for additional strength.
