Description
A snap hook or short carabiner is a hook with a spring-supported snap closure. Carabiners are used for quick attachment to eyelets and loops. For light objects, simple carabiners with low breaking loads are sufficient. Safety critical applications require compliance with standards. Carabiners without thimbles are mainly used to absorb tensile forces when transferring ropes, wire ropes or chains to fixed components. The thimble ensures that the carabiner is not lost. The use of a stainless steel carabiner makes it easier to replace a damaged wire rope or chain. Due to the curved shape, the connection is easy to release and is more flexible overall. Normal carabiners are often a cost-effective alternative to shackles, snap hooks and screw connectors.
