Instead of clic acts, Virginia Woolf explored the inner workings of her characters. Her narratives in the style of the “stream of consciousness” emphasized gender ratios and poetic perspective. Her experimental novel The Waves of 1931 she wrote down in notebooks, of which we depict one here.
