If you are looking to use a magnet then you need a steel surface, or another magnet, to attract to. A magnet will attract to a steel surface in direct contact with equal strength as a magnet to magnet arrangement, therefore, self-adhesive steel discs can sometimes provide a more-effective solution. However, it is important to remember that if there is a gap between the two, then a magnet to magnet attraction will be stronger. These small white painted steel discs are supplied with convenient, strong 3M self-adhesive on one side which means they can be stuck to almost any hard, flat surface to create a magnetic surface. They are an essential part of any crafting tool kit and are often used by galleries to hang artwork. What’s more, because they are just 1mm thick they are often used to create a magnetic closure on printed products, such as stationery. Each sheet has a striped north-south polarity on the magnetic face to give a secure grip. To ensure that the grip remains secure, we recommend allowing between 24 to 32 hours for the adhesive to cure.
