Description
Shackles are mainly used to absorb tensile forces when cables, wire ropes or chains are transferred to fixed components. The bolts are often secured with nuts or split pins. The use of a shackle makes it easier to replace a damaged wire rope or chain. The curved shape makes the connection more flexible. Chains are often a cost effective alternative to snap hooks, snap-fits and screw connectors. In the past, their use was found to be successful in the following areas: Water sports, boat building, shipping, yacht building, gardening and landscaping, food and drink industry, water and sewage technology, mechanical and plant engineering, conveyor technology, playground equipment on playgrounds, fixing of awnings and sun sails. These shackles have not been designed and manufactured for lifting purposes as part of lifting gear or load carrying equipment. For this reason, their use as lifting gear, slings or lifting accessories, particularly within the scope of the machinery directive 2006/42/EC, is not permitted.
