Opinel
The Opinel originates in France at the end of the nineteenth century. In his father’s workshop, the eighteen-year-old Joseph Opinel designed a simple and robust folding knife in 1890. The French company Opinel is family-owned from the beginning, in 1890, until this day. The handle is made of beech wood, the blade is made of carbon steel. The symbol of the main couronnée (“the crowned hand”) was already stamped on the first Opinel knives. Later, the words OPINEL and FRANCE were added.
