Why do I need solid and slotted spatulas?
When using on bakery or fragile foods, you will find food sticks to solid spatulas, requiring pushing off, which ruins food presentation. A slotted spatula allows air to get under food, so it slides off spatula easily.
The solid spatula is ideal for foods that are granular or bumpy, e.g. hamburgers, where uneven bits can get caught in slots.
Why food grade nylon?
Metal/stainless steel spatulas are prone to scratching off non stick coatings on pots and skillet. Plastic/rubber spatulas wear away easily after a few uses.
Silicone material has only been used widely in food utensils for a few years. Not enough data to be 100% sure of safety. Plus, silicon utensils have an odour. Wooden appliances should never be used close to the stove.
Food grade nylon is the only material rated as safety proof for many years, handles a wide range of temperatures, tough, and will never scratch your cookware.
